What is forThetford?
Thetford has been selected as one of 75 towns across the UK to receive up to £20 million in government funding as part of Pride in Place (formerly Plan for Neighbourhoods) - a national initiative designed to boost local economies, improve everyday life, and empower communities.
This long-term investment will help us work together to deliver tangible improvements to the places we live, work and visit. Over the next 10 years, the programme will support regeneration, increase opportunity, and strengthen community pride in Thetford.
The Pride in Place programme covers Thetford Town and some of the surrounding countryside. You can see the area under this programme's remit on our handy map (opens in new window).

What Is Pride in Place?

Funding is governed locally by new Neighbourhood Boards - made up of residents, community leaders and stakeholders - in partnership with local authorities. In Thetford, our Neighbourhood Board is now in place and will work closely with Breckland Council to shape a 10-year Regeneration Plan that sets out priorities, projects and funding allocations.

What will the investment support?
The funding can support a wide range of projects under eight government-backed themes: Regeneration High Streets & Heritage Housing Work, Productivity & Skills Cohesion, Health & Wellbeing Transport Safety & Security Education & Opportunity The focus will be on neighbourhoods and communities with the greatest need, ensuring the investment has the biggest impact.
